Katz Avionics Ltd.
Privacy policy
What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to ask for it back.
Who we are
Katz Avionics Ltd., Unit #619, 11715 Baynes Road, Pitt Meadows, BC V3Y 2V1. For any question about your information, email info@katzavionics.ca or call 604-836-2841.
What we collect
When you send a quote request, we receive what you typed:
- your name, email and phone number;
- the aircraft's registration and type, the service, your preferred date, your home airport and the details you add;
- how you heard about us, if you choose an answer;
- if you tick "Email me news and maintenance reminders": that you agreed, the date and time you ticked it, and the wording you agreed to.
The form also adds, without you typing them:
- which of our pages you sent the request from;
- the first page you opened on this site during your visit, and the site that linked you here, if your browser shares it;
- any campaign tags in the link you followed (the "utm_" part of a web address);
- your approximate area, city and province only, worked out from your internet address when you press "Send request". We don't keep your internet address for this or use it for marketing.
On every page you view, the company that hosts this site also measures how quickly the page loads for you. When you leave the page or switch away from it, a small script from the host sends:
- which page it was;
- your browser's and operating system's names (such as "Firefox" and "Windows"), your device type (mobile or desktop) and your screen size;
- how long the page took to load, how much it shifted as it loaded, and how quickly it responded to your taps, clicks and key presses: only the timings, never what you tapped or typed.
The script sets no cookies and saves nothing in your browser.
Why we collect it
- To reply with a quote, book the work and contact you about it.
- To send news and maintenance reminders, only if you ticked the box.
- To learn how people find us (the "how did you hear" answer, the linking site, campaign tags and approximate area).
- To see how quickly our pages load for visitors, so we can keep the site fast.
What this site doesn't do
- It sets no cookies of its own.
- It doesn't fingerprint your device.
- We don't sell or rent your information.
What stays in your browser
- Your light or dark choice, and whether you paused the background video, are saved in your browser (local storage) and never sent to us.
- The first page of your visit, the linking site and any campaign tags are held in this browser tab (session storage) until you close it, so a quote request can include them.
Who sees it
- Katz Avionics: the people who handle your request.
- The company that hosts this site and receives the form. Its servers may be outside Canada, including in the United States. Like any web host, it handles technical data such as your internet address to deliver pages, filter spam and measure how quickly pages load.
- An email delivery service, which passes every quote request to our inbox, including the ones the host's spam filter has flagged, so a real request isn't lost. It receives what you typed in the form in order to deliver it. Its servers may be outside Canada, including in the United States.
- Google, when the map and Street View on our Contact page load. Google receives your internet address and may set its own cookies (Google's privacy policy).
- IPCamLive, which serves the airport webcam picture on our Contact page. It receives your internet address each time the picture loads: once a minute while the webcam is on screen or open full screen, and not while the page is in a background tab.
How long we keep it
- Quote requests: two years from when we receive them.
- Your email consent: until you withdraw it, plus the record that you gave it.
Emails and unsubscribing
We only send news and maintenance reminders if you ticked the box. Every one says who it's from and how to unsubscribe. You can withdraw at any time by replying "unsubscribe" or emailing info@katzavionics.ca.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
Email info@katzavionics.ca to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
